Orthotics

If you suffer from foot, ankle, leg, knee, hip or lower back pain, orthotics may be the answer!

Canadian certified pedorthists are trained in the assessment, design, manufacture, fit and modification of foot appliances and footwear. These appliances, known as orthotics, are used to alleviate painful or debilitating conditions and to provide assistance for abnormalities or limited actions of the lower limb. Worn in footwear, orthotics can help alleviate pain and improve the function of the foot and ankle. They can also accommodate conditions of the feet to provide improved comfort and mobility for patients.

At Eastern Rehabilitation, our Pedorthist provides these services, focusing on restoring function and maintaining the lifestyle of our patients.

Orthotics are effective treatment for a number of painful conditions including:

  • Plantar Fasciitis / Heel Spurs
  • Arthritic Symptoms
  • Heel / Arch pain
  • Diabetic Related Issues
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Corns / Calluses
  • Knee Pain
  • Low Back Pain
  • Shin Splints
  • Flat Free or High Arches
  • Toe Pain and Deformities
  • Leg Length Discrepancy
  • Hip Pain

If you have conditions such as arthritis, diabetes or fibromyalgia you may also find comfort and relief by using such devices.

Our Certified Pedorthist can assess your foot biomechanics to determine the need for orthotics. To be assessed you must first obtain a prescription from your Physician or other health care professional. You can then book an appointment with our Certified Pedorthist who will help you determine the device required to treat your condition. It is also wise to check with your insurance provider to determine your coverage for custom foot orthotics.
